Why AMEC?

Has been around 6000 years and sand casting has been around 4000 years. The problem is that investment casting takes weeks of process time while sand casting has poor accuracy of about 3% which means it requires extensive machining which also takes too much time. Lead times for castings can be many months.

A more efficient process which eliminates 95% of the process steps of investment casting but has similar tolerances and roughness capabilities. The problem with lost foam is that  historically it had expensive tooling making it just used for ultrahigh volume applications.

We have found many benefits to those looking at additive manufacturing including:

• Compared to sand printing, AMEC has improved roughness and tolerances which means less post process machining.
• Compared to printed wax or other types of investment casting, AMEC is more affordable, has faster process time, and allows geometries such as internal channels that are difficult in investment casting.
• Compared to direct printing, AMEC results in an as cast microstructure with conventional properties.
• Compared to any additive manufacturing process, AMEC has costs in line with traditional manufacturing.
