Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at customerservice@skuldllc.com, if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  •  Maximum part size is determined by the volume of the part. We recommend a part volume of no greater volume than 100 in^3, and a largest  dimension no greater than 7". So go ahead and think big, but not too big.

  • The Lightning Metal is designed for smaller volumes. Custom equipment is also feasible. If there is sufficient market interest a cubic foot or  larger machines may also be launched in the near future.

  • There are a handful of factors that affect part accuracy that we cover in-depth during training and installation. In general, +/- 0.005 in/in or 0.5%  on all dimensions.

  • You're able to make fully solid parts with the same properties you could expect from a casting. You're able to machine, weld, and surface treat parts to your application.

  •  Lightning Metal 16 will be able to produce various aluminum, brass, bronze, and copper alloys.

  •  No. Any fumes from pouring the metal are extracted and vented through an activated carbon filter to remove any chemicals. Safety first, people.

  •  The furnace requires a 25 amp breaker, and a 120V 5-20R outlet. No electrician needed. Unless you want to feel fancy and hire  one.

  •  No. This let's you keep your data secure, and you don't have to fight with IT when it gets installed. (Probably, we can't really guarantee this. Your IT department might just like to debate.)

  •  No, however the total cost is not due at the time of order. We require a 30% deposit at the time of placing the order. An additional 60% is due when the equipment is ready to ship. The final 10% is due when the system is installed.

  • We are currently taking pre-orders, with the product planned for availability October 15.   However, if  you need parts sooner, we're happy to make them for you as a service. With a machine deposit, you'll receive 20% off any  services between now and when your system is installed. We'll even throw in a complimentary "thank you for being our  impatient customer" mug.
